STL LOUD founders Ryan Albritton and Ryan Lewis have delivered the third installment of their series of EPs featuring St. Louis-based bands, and it’s a good one. Each episode has featured a wide array of genres, and the newest disc includes tracks by indie rockers Firedog and The Reeling Gilly, funk/soul quartet Superhero Killer, rapper Rockwell Knuckles, and the flawlessly named Funky Butt Brass Band.
I’m proud to have been involved with the project since volume one, having photographed several artists as they recorded their contributions at R&R Music Labs and I am excited to see where this series is headed. Each showcase brings together a diverse mix of fans and almost everyone leaves impressed with an artist that they previously had no idea existed or had never taken the time to check out. It’s always a party celebrating great local music, and that’s a great thing to see.
